VACANCIES
US Bible and
Theology Teacher
Trinity seeks an US Bible and Theology teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
Trinity School is highly focused on its Christian and classical mission. An understanding of and commitment to this mission is essential: to educate students in transitional kindergarten to grade twelve within the framework of Christian faith and conviction—teaching the classical tools of learning; providing a rich yet unhurried education; and communicating truth, goodness and beauty.
Located in Durham, North Carolina, Trinity School is a Christian School that values both a rich Christian faith (faculty embrace doctrinal commitments described on Trinity's website and have a personal relationship with Christ) and vibrant academic excellence. Trinity welcomes students and families who are Christian, as well as those who come from other faiths, and from none.
Over the past two years, our ninth and tenth grade Theology courses have been redesigned and piloted. We are looking for a person to take these redesigned courses and teach our ninth and tenth grade students.
The successful candidate will have a robust Christian faith that embraces Trinity’s vision to be an ecumenical school centered in and bounded by the evangelical and orthodox traditions. He or she will also have a passion and commitment for Kingdom diversity that aligns with Trinity’s vision for diversity, equity, and belonging within a Christian context.
Candidates should read carefully the school’s Expanded Mission Statement, the Vision Statement on Kingdom Diversity, and other supporting documents that lay out both the positions and postures that shape an evangelical, orthodox, and ecumenical vision. In order to be successful in this position, a candidate will need a strong alignment with this vision of Christian faith and education. In Trinity’s school culture, camaraderie, collaboration, showing up for student events, and pitching in for the good of all are highly valued. Trinity values faculty who are involved in life beyond the classroom, and applicants who can coach, advise a club, or otherwise enrich our vibrant community will add much value.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a master’s degree in theological education (e.g., M.Div or M.T.S.), experience teaching the Scriptures to adolescents, understanding of adolescent development (social, intellectual, emotional, sexual), and understanding of and some mastery of pedagogy. It is essential that this teacher be able to fuse theological education and spiritual formation in the classroom experience.
The US Bible and Theology teacher will report directly to the Director of Upper School. He or she will work closely with the Head of School and the Bible and Theology Department in the development of the curriculum.
To be considered, qualified candidates should attach a cover letter and their resume to the Trinity application, along with other supporting documents such as college transcripts and certifications.
