Step 2

Register for events and campus tours.

The best way to learn more about becoming a Trinity Lion is to attend a Campus Tour and Information Session.

We invite you to join us as we launch a new season of campus tours, which begin in October. Families will have the opportunity to meet Trinity's division directors, teachers, parents, students, and the Enrollment Management staff.

Step 3

By completing more detailed information in the admissions portal, such as your parent questionnaire, demographic profile, family relationships, and student questionnaire forms, you’ll help our Enrollment Management Team get to know you better.

Step 4

Schedule assessments, testing, and interviews.

Students applying to grades TK–6 are invited to visit a Trinity classroom or attend a Saturday Morning Group Assessment. Middle and Upper School applicants are encouraged to spend a half-day shadowing a Student Ambassador to learn more about what it’s like to be a Trinity Lion! Our youngest students applying to grades TK–2 are given the Developmental Gesell Observation to better understand a child’s growth and developmental age.

Step 5

Request records and recommendations.

Through the admissions portal, you can request teacher recommendations, transcripts, and student records from your current school. We’ll mark items complete in your admissions portal as they are received.

Important Dates and Deadlines

The most common time to begin the application process is in the fall before the anticipated year of entry. Trinity begins receiving applications in October. Families are encouraged to begin the admission process well before the priority application deadline.

Starting the admission process early allows families more time to get to know Trinity and helps us complete the admission process in a timely fashion.

For new families, a nonrefundable tuition deposit of $2,000 per student is due upon signing a continuous enrollment agreement. The total fee is capped at $4,000 per family and is prorated for families receiving flexible tuition assistance. The deposit goes directly towards net tuition and secures your student’s space.

Late Applications
Applications received after the priority deadlines will be processed and considered as they are received. While most classes are filled from our initial applicant pool, we do occasionally have spaces available in the spring and summer. For specific questions, please contact the Enrollment Management Office. The school gives priority in the allocation of need-based flexible tuition to families who submitted an application through Clarity by the priority deadline.

Admissions Mission Statement

In accordance with its mission, Trinity School seeks to attract families and enroll students who want to be part of a community with shared values and a shared educational philosophy. Our goal is for each Trinity student to succeed abundantly in academics, in character growth, in relationships with others, and in developing a humble self-confidence. Learning is hard work, but it is also a joy. We want children to enjoy their Trinity education and cultivate a lifelong love of learning.

Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill admits missionally qualified applicants of any ability, color, ethnicity, national origin, race, religion, or sex to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, or sex in administration of its educational and admissions policies, offers of flexible tuition, or execution of athletic or any other school-administered program.

Admissions Guiding Principles

Trinity’s Admission Committee takes a holistic review approach and draw from all application materials, including classroom observations, proven assessment techniques (the Gesell developmental assessment for our youngest students and the ISEE/MAP/SSAT aptitude tests for older applicants), teacher references, parent and student questionnaires, and conversations with Trinity’s division directors and teachers. Due consideration is given to the class dynamics of the cohort for which a student is applying and alignment with Trinity’s rich and unhurried philosophy. While not every applicant is a good fit for Trinity School, each decision made by the Admission Committee is made with the student’s best interest at heart.
