THIS IS TRINITY
Trinity School’s Christian Faith
Trinity is a Christian School. We are thoroughgoing in our Christian faith, but we stand with arms wide open to the world, welcoming all truth as God’s truth. We want to be shaped by our namesake, the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And we are grounded in the permanent things—truth, goodness, and beauty.
The Christian mission is the bedrock of Trinity School. From the school’s inception, the founders, all of whom were Christians, envisioned a school for which the central tenet was a unified Christian faith.
This group, constituting the school’s first Board, represented various Christian traditions and denominations yet were unified in their evangelical, orthodox commitment to the scriptures and the transformative work of the Gospel and the Holy Spirit in their lives. This unity in diversity is encapsulated by C. S. Lewis’s concept of “mere Christianity,” which emphasizes a fundamental commitment to truth that transcends denominational and cultural boundaries. The Board has continually reaffirmed this central Christian commitment, showcasing its depth and breadth of influence on essential educational decisions and the overall ethos of the institution.
Trinity School’s approach to Christianity is not just theoretical but deeply practical, influencing every aspect of its educational framework. The school’s commitment to a Christian worldview shapes not only its curricular content but also its pedagogical approaches, community interactions, and decision-making processes.
The Christian mission of Trinity School thus acts as a guiding force, influencing every aspect of the school’s function and community life.
This commitment to Christianity goes beyond mere religious instruction: it is about cultivating a worldview that integrates faith with learning and living. This integration ensures that students not only learn about Christian principles and values but also see them modeled in the school’s environment and ethos. The Christian mission of Trinity School thus acts as a guiding force, influencing every aspect of the school’s function and community life.
The integration of Christian principles in the curriculum ensures that students are not just gaining knowledge but also being shaped in their character and values. The school’s commitment to a Christian worldview means that students are encouraged to explore and understand the world around them through the lens of their faith. This approach to education fosters a sense of purpose and meaning in learning that encourages students to see their education not just as a pursuit of knowledge but as a journey of spiritual and moral growth. Trinity School’s educational practices, therefore, are deeply imbued with its Christian mission, aiming to develop students who are not just intellectually competent but also spiritually mature and morally upright.
At Trinity School, our faculty and teachers are the heart of our mission, breathing life into our Christian ethos every day. They are more than educators: they are mentors, guides, and exemplars of the faith we cherish.
Teachers at Trinity are carefully selected for their expertise, commitment to Christian values, and ability to integrate these into every lesson and interaction. They are tasked with the noble endeavor of shaping young minds not just academically, but also spiritually and morally.
In classrooms and hallways and at school events, our teachers model the principles of love, grace, and forgiveness that are central to our faith. They encourage critical thinking, nurture spiritual growth, and foster a respectful environment in which every student is valued and heard.
In essence, our faculty are the embodiment of Trinity School’s Christian mission. Each day, they translate our foundational beliefs into experiences that shape our students’ lives, both now and in their future endeavors.
One of the unique aspects of Trinity School’s approach to Christianity is its embrace of diversity within the bounds of a shared Christian faith. The founders’ vision was for a school that would not serve a single denomination or tradition but be a place where various Christian perspectives are welcomed and valued.
This ecumenical approach reflects a deep understanding of the richness and diversity within the Christian faith and a commitment to fostering a learning environment in which this diversity is seen as a strength.
By bringing together students, faculty, and families from diverse Christian backgrounds, Trinity School creates a vibrant community in which different perspectives are not just tolerated but celebrated. Trinity School is a place where the celebration of diversity provides students with a richer and more nuanced understanding of their faith.
We welcome students, families, and staff from all faiths to join our diverse and inclusive community.
Our steadfast commitment to Christian values couples with a recognition of the rich tapestry of human experiences and beliefs to create a place where everyone can grow. In this nurturing environment, we strive to foster understanding, respect, and a shared pursuit of excellence in both academic and spiritual realms.
