Lower School Librarian (Part-Time) 


Trinity School seeks a part-time Lower School Librarian (10 hours per week) for the 2025-2026 school year. This position is responsible for the book purchasing, room management, and library coordination for grades TK-6th.

Major Responsibilties and Duties:

  • Orders and purchases the books needed to replace lost or damaged books, as well as books which would improve the offerings of the library. 

  • Maintains the library’s cataloging system (currently a spreadsheet) as new books are purchased and others are purged.

  • Manages the student borrowing system so as to assure a strict accounting of all books loaned and received, and of all books in the library itself. 

  • Coordinates with the LS teachers as to units being studied and thus books which can be displayed or prominently offered for student use.

  • Maintains the library room, keeping its furniture in working order and the overall library environment conducive to quiet study and reading. 

  • Schedules availability in the library to read to individual classrooms (Tk-2nd grade) bimonthly for student contact, book reading, and sign outs.

  • Supports teachers by suggesting books that might be of interest to students (upon request).

  • Establishes an independent check out system for older students (3rd-6th grade).

  • Organizes a “Summer Reading Challenge” (as school breaks for summer) as a reading incentive (small prizes awarded when students return in the fall).

  • Arranges author visits for students throughout the year with the goal that all grades interact with an author yearly.

  • Tidies the “Little Library” on campus and removes non-childrens books monthly.

Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Knowledgeable about the Trinity mission and the influence of Charlotte Mason on reading material when selecting books for the library, students or the classroom.

  • Knowledgeable about developmentally and academically appropriate reading material for students.

  • Knowledgeable about library procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  • At least two years teaching or related experience is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 8 pounds at times.
